Congratulations! 2025 “Fun Taiwan” International Fine Arts Competition – Winners Announced

The results of the 2025 “Fun Taiwan” TAIPEI 101 International Fine Arts Competition are officially out! This year’s large-scale contest attracted thousands of submissions. After multiple rounds of rigorous judging, the final winners were selected in three divisions: Children’s, Youth, and Adult. Each division awarded 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze, and 7 Honorable Mentions, totaling 30 outstanding winners! Don’t miss the winning artworks on display from October 16 at the Xinyi Corridor, 1F TAIPEI 101 Mall. We warmly invite everyone to come and enjoy these inspiring creations!

Now in its third year, the competition has grown once again, attracting participants from the United States, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Thailand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Japan, Mainland China, and Taiwan. A record-breaking 1,863 participants submitted 1,051 artworks, marking the highest number of entries to date. This year’s contestants ranged in age from 3 to 74 years old, demonstrating the intergenerational power of art. Notably, the oldest participant at 74 years old claimed a prize, proving that creativity transcends age, geography, and culture.

As an internationally renowned landmark, TAIPEI 101 aims to showcase the beauty of Taiwan through art. With the theme “Fun Taiwan”, the contest was divided into three categories—Children, Youth, and Adult—with 30 winners selected across Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mentions.

🎖️Children’s Gold Award
“Imagination and Reality of Diverse Taiwan” by HUANG AN CHI. Using vibrant colors, the work captures night market snacks, bubble tea, airplanes, and the phrase “Welcome to Taiwan” around the iconic TAIPEI 101. The piece exudes a warm sense of hospitality while highlighting Taiwan’s multicultural and innovative charm.

🎖️Youth Gold Award
“Dreams of the Old Town” by Su Yongqing. In this dreamlike scene, the artist transforms into a young girl riding a golden fish symbolizing good fortune, setting off from the modern splendor of TAIPEI 101. She travels through red-brick houses and colorful signboards, greeted by auspicious dragons, lantern-bearing tigers, and welcoming monkeys. The work conveys festive joy and the vitality of the land, weaving together the charm of old Taipei with the brilliance of the new.

🎖️Adult Gold Award
“Our Daily Life Meets Theirs” by Guo Likai. Depicted from a first-person perspective, this piece portrays everyday street life in Taiwan where food stalls and endemic animals intertwine. A clouded leopard, pangolin, and Formosan macaque venture into the human scene, while a Formosan black bear and sika deer roam nearby, with a Taiwan blue magpie soaring overhead. The interaction between nature and the city creates a vivid vision of coexistence, reflecting the unique blend of Taiwanese culture and ecology.

Concept Statement:
This artwork uses vibrant colors and exaggerated imagination to depict the unique characteristics of Taiwan, showcasing the diverse charms of its culture, cuisine, and landscapes. At the center of the composition is TAIPEI 101, symbolizing Taiwan's iconic landmark, surrounded by night market snacks, bubble tea, airplanes, and the words “Welcome to Taiwan.” The piece conveys a warm, welcoming atmosphere, highlighting Taiwan's blend of tradition and innovation, and embodies the concept of “Travel Taiwan, Experience Diversity.”


Silver Medal|CHEN HAI LING <Taiwan Daily Life at TAIPEI 101>
Concept Statement:
Using watercolor and marker, this piece depicts a city and nature on an island. Lush golden rice paddies and colorful, sweet fruits fill the scene. Rising sky lanterns and dazzling, vibrant butterflies float gently above. The bustling MRT connects the everyday life and culture of Taiwan, culminating in a moment frozen before the towering TAIPEI 101. This is a story that belongs to this island.


Bronze Medal|CHEN CHIEN YU <Formosa, the Beautiful Island>
Concept Statement:
Taiwan, this land carries the intertwined beauty of nature and culture. From the shimmering waters and mountains of Sun Moon Lake to the sunrise and sea of clouds at Alishan; from the azure coastlines of Kenting to the magnificent gorges of Taroko, every landscape is a heartfelt gift from the earth. As night falls, sky lanterns rise slowly over Pingxi, lighting up hopes like scattered stars; in winter, plum blossoms bloom with quiet pride, their subtle fragrance lingering in the air. The faith in Mazu unites the island's spirit, while Indigenous cultures preserve ancient wisdom and songs. The beauty of this land lies not only in its mountains and rivers, but also in the tender stories of harmony between people and nature.


Honorable Mention|SHIH LI YUAN <Vibrant 101, Joyful Taiwan>
Concept Statement:
The towering TAIPEI 101 stands like a glowing giant, guarding the bustling city. Fireworks bloom in the night sky, sky lanterns carry wishes into the stars, and dragon and lion dances take the stage in lively celebration. The Formosan black bear, sika deer, and leopard cat come out to play with me. Xiao long bao, beef noodles, bubble tea, and sweet pineapples are the familiar flavors I know. This is the place where I live — “Vibrant 101, Joyful Taiwan.”


Honorable Mention|LIU YI TONG <TAIPEI 101 Above the Clouds>
Concept Statement:
From a hot air balloon high above, overlooking TAIPEI 101 is an experience few people have ever had. On most days, unless the weather is perfectly clear, the top floors of 101 are often shrouded in clouds and mist, making them nearly invisible. However, for those who have joined a hot air balloon festival and flown past 101, they just might have caught a glimpse of its very top!


Honorable Mention|WU SIN RUEI <Taiwan Through the Eyes of TAIPEI 101>
Concept Statement:
I use TAIPEI 101 as the beginning of the story, surrounded by the proud Formosan black bear, the lively Formosan landlocked salmon, the winding Alishan forest train, and the natural sculpture of Yehliu's Queen's Head, all showcasing Taiwan's diverse landscapes and rich ecology. Braised pork rice and bubble tea convey the everyday delicacies, while lion dances, Indigenous culture, and vibrant fireworks weave together a passionate atmosphere. These are my impressions of Taiwan — a fusion of modern and traditional, nature and culture — and I hope everyone can experience and appreciate the colorful beauty of Taiwan.


Honorable Mention|CHANG YU LIN <Paradise of Taiwan's Native Animals>
Concept Statement:
At the center, TAIPEI 101 radiates golden light, surrounded by dark tones that highlight the imagery of “hope born here.” The fireworks bursting from 101 transform into Taiwan's native animals — the leopard cat, Formosan black bear, Taiwan blue magpie, sika deer, pangolin, clouded leopard, and more. They rise like sparks of life from 101, soaring into the sky, symbolizing both the joy of celebration and the cherishing and safeguarding of this land. Taiwan is not only a prosperous city, but also a cradle of unique natural ecology. This work conveys the hope that these lives will continue to shine brilliantly.


Honorable Mention|HSU YUNG CHING <A Wonderful Journey>
Concept Statement:
Visiting TAIPEI 101, Beimen, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Taipei Main Station, and Linjiang Street Night Market, and finally dining with my family at a cat café — this was my most wonderful journey.

Concept Statement:
This painting begins with TAIPEI 101, depicting a family outing imagined as a ride in a bear-shaped hot air balloon, drifting through seas of flowers, sky lanterns, and summer attractions like a Ferris wheel. The scene blends in animals such as the Formosan black bear, Taiwan blue magpie, deer, and parrots, showcasing Taiwan's diverse nature and culture. Lively fireworks and delicious foods echo the festive spirit of summer, presenting the warm and joyful charm of Taiwan's tourism.

Concept Statement:
Set against the theme of Taipei, this work captures the interplay between the city's bustling energy and the warmth of daily life. TAIPEI 101 stands as the city's beating heart, connecting vibrant streetscapes with intimate moments of human interaction. Through vivid colors and expressive, gestural brushstrokes, the painting conveys Taipei's dynamic yet inviting rhythm—a multifaceted, living pulse that breathes with vitality.

An auspicious dragon bringing blessings, a tiger holding a lantern, and a warm-hearted monkey greet her arrival, together embodying the joy of festivals, the vitality of the land, and the charm that bridges old Taipei with the new—a vision worth treasuring with our eyes.


Silver Medal|YE PEI RONG <The Night's Pulse>
Concept Statement:
This artwork centers on TAIPEI 101 at night, using its continuously shining lights to highlight the endless vitality of Taipei, the city that never sleeps.


Bronze Medal|CHUANG JU CHING <Floral 101>
Concept Statement:
Centered on TAIPEI 101, this work blends urban and floral landscapes, showcasing the harmony between people and nature. Pedestrians walking toward the landmark symbolize the exploration of the future, with dreamy colors conveying a sense of hope and vitality.

Concept Statement:
I use a chessboard as the foundation of the composition, incorporating Taiwan's landmarks, culinary culture, TAIPEI 101, and other elements. I hope viewers can feel the diverse charm of Taiwan and awaken their passion for exploring the world.

Concept Statement:
Centered on TAIPEI 101, this work presents the tower from a bird's-eye view, emphasizing its towering height alongside the word “Taiwan.” Taiwan's cultural animals and cuisine are transformed into a colorful carnival. The soaring TAIPEI 101 symbolizes Taiwan's pride and aspirations, while the surrounding characters represent the warmth and surprises of everyday life. Using a bowl of beef noodles to connect Taiwan's culture, the noodles transform into a coiling dragon, symbolizing Eastern mythology and the soul of the land. The Alishan forest train becomes a “food train,” carrying delicacies as it speeds along, representing Taiwan's diverse cuisine. In the scene, the blue magpie and Formosan black bear protect the ecosystem, while tiny figures in traditional ethnic attire move through the painting, symbolizing the intertwining of cultures. From leisurely strolls while tasting local street food, to immersing oneself in unique cultural atmospheres, and even witnessing the prowess of professional Olympic athletes—each moment becomes the perfect way to experience the true charm of Taiwan.


Honorable Mention|LU CHIN YU <Moonlit Cultural Symphony>
Concept Statement:
Encircling the majestic TAIPEI 101 rising at the center, Taiwan's many traditions and unique cultural features shine all the more vividly under the glow of the moonlight and the lively energy of the night markets, like a powerful and moving symphony. Taiwan's culture is diverse and one of a kind—by blending festivals, ecology, indigenous heritage, cuisine, and night market scenes onto the canvas, the work highlights the island's precious resources and boundless vitality.

Concept Statement:
Featuring Taiwan's endemic species as the main characters, this work imagines them as party guests holding bubble tea and beer, embodying a joyful atmosphere. Iconic landmarks such as TAIPEI 101, the National Taichung Theater, and Tainan's Anping Fort are woven into the scene, blending nature with culture. Concept Statement:
Taiwan is a beautiful island full of vitality and wonder, where every season brings abundant harvests. Beyond its breathtaking landscapes and diverse cultures, visitors from around the world can experience a year-round feast of the senses. As the flowers bloom with the changing seasons, one can journey across the island—from east to west, north to south—embracing all that Taiwan has to offer.

From a first-person perspective, I depict the streets of Taiwan, where the everyday charm of food stalls intertwines with the island's unique wildlife. On the left, a clouded leopard, pangolin, and Formosan macaque wander into a shop as a Taiwan blue magpie soars overhead. On the right, a Formosan black bear and a sika deer appear. Through their playful pursuit across human settings, nature and the city merge, reflecting an imaginative vision of Taiwan's distinctive coexistence of culture and ecology.


Silver Medal|WU SI JIE <"TAIPEI 101, Thank you for your love in protecting Taiwan">
Concept Statement:
Beneath a starry 360-degree stage, a Formosan black bear captivates the crowd with an R&B rap performance. At the center, indigenous performers and playful sika deer step lively to a welcoming dance, while on the lower level, smoke and dazzling lights set the scene for beloved local singers giving their all in a grand chorus. The entire space blends Taiwan's unique cultural and natural spirit, leaving every audience member spellbound. Finally, TAIPEI 101 illuminates the dark night sky in dreamlike colors, quietly whispering to each person: “Thank you for your love in protecting Taiwan.”


Bronze Medal|KUO TING SHAN <Island Structure Diagram>
Concept Statement:
This artwork takes the letterform “TAIWAN” as its structural foundation, stacking it layer by layer into platforms that symbolize the island's diverse and multidimensional culture. Each platform carries landmarks and distinctive architecture from across Taiwan, ranging from urban skylines to natural landscapes, showcasing the richness of Taiwan's tourism. Between the letters, elements of local cuisine are illustrated with kraft-paper brushstrokes, unfolding like components of an exploded-view drawing. By merging an industrial design perspective with tourism imagery, the piece conveys Taiwan as a precise system composed of humanity, landscapes, and the flavors of everyday life—with TAIPEI 101 serving as a vital core component.

This artwork presents Taiwan's diverse culture through a colorful, fairytale-like atmosphere. A young girl and a white horse dance through a sea of blossoms, symbolizing the hope of the Year of the Horse. TAIPEI 101 shines against the sky, representing Taiwan's modern spirit. Iconic landmarks such as the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and the Taipei Dome, together with culinary delights, showcase the island's rich culture. Native animals and plants highlight its vibrant natural ecology, conveying a vision of harmony where people and nature dance together.


Honorable Mention|YANG MEI CHEN <Fern Paradise>
Concept Statement:
Taiwan's young geological strata continue to rise every year, giving shape to diverse landforms and towering mountains. Its varied climate nurtures an extraordinary richness of plant life. With 630 species of ferns spanning 34 families, Taiwan has the highest fern density in the world.

Ferns can be found everywhere in Taiwan—bird's nest ferns often grow in the corners of city walls, while maidenhair ferns appear along drainage walls. The island is the perfect classroom for observing, studying, and understanding ferns. Visitors from around the world are invited to explore Taiwan, enjoying not only its food and culture but also its fern landscapes. Elephant Mountain, for instance, is home to many species.


Honorable Mention|SHIH FENG YING <Hi, Welcome to Taiwan!>
Concept Statement:
Guided by TAIPEI 101 alongside Taiwan's native species—the Taipei tree frog, Formosan black bear, and the national butterfly, the broad-tailed swallowtail—travelers are invited to savor bubble tea, stinky tofu, braised pork rice, and high-mountain tea. They experience the blessings of sky lanterns, the charm of Hakka traditions, the grandeur of Mazu processions, the vibrance of indigenous harvest festivals, the nostalgic Alishan railway, and the soaring hot air balloons of Luye Plateau—together painting the beauty of Formosa, Taiwan.


Honorable Mention|CHIN HSIU FENG <King Kong Overture>
Concept Statement:
Inspired by the 2005 classic film King Kong, this work reimagines the scene where Kong, in a desperate search for the red-clad woman of his memory, frantically climbs TAIPEI 101. The spectacle is both grand and breathtaking. Through the solemn archway of Liberty Square, the camera reveals TAIPEI 101 rising steadfastly amidst the clouds, radiating its own allure—perhaps quietly conveying that Taiwan’s landscapes are timelessly iconic and profoundly beautiful.


Honorable Mention|LIN YUAN CHUN <Let's 'Fun' Taiwan Together>
Concept Statement:
In Taiwan, whether it is cuisine, landmarks, or traditional culture, each holds its own unique charm. This artwork features seven native species—the Formosan black bear, Taiwan blue magpie, pangolin, leopard cat, Moltrecht's tree frog, Formosan macaque, and sika deer—reimagined as Monopoly players, guiding everyone on a journey through the island's flavors and cultural treasures.


Honorable Mention|YU WEI DE <Standing on Taiwan 101, Overlooking Vast Taiwan>
Concept Statement:
From the top of TAIPEI 101—the tallest building in Taiwan—one can gaze upon the island's many defining features: the proud high-tech metropolis, vibrant night markets rich in local culture, world-renowned fruits exported across the globe, and Taiwan's role as a major hub of cargo transport. This artwork seeks to capture the island's diversity, the people's way of life, and their spirit of diligence and vitality.
